Designer, Drupal Developer and Teacher

I don't like so many things about this website. I shouldn't tell you that, but I'm going to anyway. Look how horrible this page's vertical rhythm is. It's embarrassingly awful. Why is this text almost touching that photo on the right. Did I not put a margin-left on the photo? Sloppy.

Oh and there's a widow ^ (in Safari. Update: Firefox Windows, too. Thanks @BrightBold). Just the thing I was complaining about on twitter. I could work to fix up this site. But instead, I'm going for the high bar. Just make the site into what I want it to be. So now the site is heavily under construction. Really. Right now. Maybe I should put a animated gif up to show you. Come back soon to see me rip it up. And see how many other things I do, live on the site, that I shouldn't do. I mean, really, why not just show you the process.

Website ripup status: So I've got a Drupal 7 version running happy here on my computer. Starting a new theme from scratch using HTML5 Base. Rebuilding my views right now (the fields for each View have to be redone.) Figuring out Drupal 7 stuff. (change is confusing!) Working on content placement and HTML markup.

I am a designer and front-end developer with 15 years of experience creating things for the internet. These days, I specialize in Drupal architecture and design, HTML5 and CSS3. Among other things, I created Bartik, the new default theme for Drupal 7. I am also leading the Drupal HTML5 Tools group, making Drupal work with HTML5.

Oh, and I'm now the cohost of Dan Benjamin's The Daily Edition on 5by5.tv. What a great first week it's been, being on his show!

Jen is one of those amazing split-brained individuals who can combine deep technical knowledge with aesthetic intuitions and a strong base of relentless common sense. Her high standards and dedication to the Drupal and design communities have been an amazing benefit to our team. Would enthusiastically recommend for any role that requires bridging the gaps between design, code, and communication.
